Sustainability Issues

On the most simple level, Sustainability means using our resources wisely.  On a practical level, that means constantly looking for new and innovative ways to conduct our business.  This page focuses on specifically how the Johns Hopkins University campuses are addressing issues of sustainability through committees and other collaborative efforts.

Johns Hopkins Sustainability Committee
The Johns Hopkins Sustainability Committee contains representatives from all 10 academic divisions plus the Sheridan Libraries and the Office of Government, Community, and Public Affairs.  The Committee convenes every two months to share division-specific successes and best practices related to energy and environmental stewardship.

President's Task Force on Climate Change
The President's Task Force met for the first time in February, 2008 to begin work on developing a new University policy leading to our vision of carbon neutrality.  The Task Force is supported by three working groups, corresponding to its three primary focus areas:

Working Group I: Tactics and Strategies               (link coming soon)
Working Group II: Community Partnerships         (link coming soon)
Working Group III: Innovation and Research        (link coming soon)
