Relevant Groups to Sustainability

OurEarth.org
A non-profit organization created by Johns Hopkins alumni that works to make it easier for the public to find environmental information.  Their website has a national directory that provides local information on recycling, energy and water conservation, climate change, and pollution prevention.

Green Student U
A blog-style site that introduces today's students to a wide variety of global environmental issues by recognizing on-campus green initiatives and personal success stories.

The Center for a Livable Future 
A great source of information on the connections between the environment, food, and health, at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

The Chesapeake Sustainable Business Alliance
An alliance of over 100 businesses in the Baltimore region who prioritize sustainability in their operations.  The alliance emphasizes the "triple bottom line" of profit, people, and planet. 

Baltimore Biodiesel Cooperative
A group dedicated to advocacy, promotion, research, and education of environmentally sustainable biodiesel fuel in the Baltimore region.

The Ahskin Group 
A leader in the examining new and innovative ways to incorporate sustainable cleaning products and techniques.

Labs21
A voluntary partnership program dedicated to improving the environmental performance of U.S. laboratories.

GreenRoofs.com
A  portal for information, contacts, information, and news about green roofs (also known as “living roofs”).

The US Green Building Council
The leading organization promoting sustainable design for new construction, renovations, grounds, and operations of buildings.  The USGBC is also responsible for the Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED).

Mt. Wachusett Community College
A number of innovative renewable energy projects are underway, including a wood to energy heating system and a biomass gasifier.
