On May 4, 2009, President Daniels endorsed the report in a letter to the Johns Hopkins community. In his letter he articulated how this report will help shape the vision for Johns Hopkins in the future. Even in this difficult economic climate, it is clear we have opportunities to provide environmental leadership that will help set the foundation for a stronger and more dynamic university for decades to come...As is our tradition, we can lead through discovery and scholarship and by putting what we learn into action. This is the essence of principled and responsible university leadership. I am confident that the recommendations we ultimately implement will catapult us to a leadership position in sustainability. |
The report was the culmination of efforts that started with the Johns Hopkins Sustainability Committee and was furthered by the Task Force and three working groups: Tactics and Strategies, Innovation and Research, and Community Partnerships. Members of these groups included Johns Hopkins scholars, professional staff, and students, as well as local experts with specific knowledge of the target issues. The final reports of the three working groups are below. Working Group I: Tactics and Strategies Working Group II: Community Partnerships Working Group III: Innovation and Research
